Maria White was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and raised in Summerville, South Carolina. The daughter of two artists, creative expression was always encouraged. Maria fell in love with clay early on after discovering the infinite possibilities of the medium. After earning a degree in art from Winthrop University, Maria’s studies took her to Italy to  focus on sculpture, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine, Penland School in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and an apprenticeship with celebrated North Carolina sculptor, Michael Sherrill.  Maria is a member of the American Craft Council and her award-winning ceramics are collected and published internationally featured prominently alongside some of the brightest design stars in the world, in the newly released book, Nature: Inspiration for Art & Design, by Monsa of Barcelona.  Maria’s work is regularly featured in film and television productions, and her signature “Luminaries"can be seen at the acclaimed ‘Jar’ restaurant in Los Angeles, the ‘American Fish’ restaurant, in the Las Vegas Aria Hotel and the Stonehill Tavern restaurant at the St. Regis resort in Monarch Beach. Outside of her ceramic work, Maria is also an award winning filmmaker. Maria lives and creates in Hollywood, California.
