Inspired by organic forms, I celebrate natural textures in my art such as ripples on water, the unique patterns on animal skins and insect wings, chambers within a shell from the sea, the delicate shapes that define a flower in bloom. I am interested in the tiny details of great beauty found in the natural world and how light interacts with them. When creating these meditations on nature, I work exclusively in porcelain; throwing, altering, carving to give each piece a distinct, tactile pattern, creating facets that capture light and encourage shadows. Ultimately, my intent is to make sensual forms that reflect the beauty found in everyday life.
